wtf is “Retention”??

Email Marketing FAQs #3

If you’ve ever looked into email marketing, chances are you’ve probably heard the term “retention marketing” too.

But wtf does it actually mean? And how is it linked to email marketing?

Retention marketing focuses on repeat purchases from past customers.

It is focused on retaining existing customers and encouraging them to continue buying products from your business.

To acquire these customers, you probably paid a pretty penny to Zuckerberg for the initial purchase. This is called acquisition.

But once your customers have given you their money, and have shown that they trust your brand and like your products… why would you get them to repurchase through expensive channels like Facebook, Google or Meta? To pay them 30% of your gross margin?

Or…

You could use emails- which literally cost 0.003c to send per email- to hit your existing purchasers with targeted, personalised communication to get them to repurchase.

In short:

Email marketing is the most effective tool for retention, as it puts more profit in your pocket.

Best,

Don
